| Watershed Development Program |
GOGVIP is actively working for the Watershed development program under the Draught Prone Area development Program of Government of India, funded by Rural Development Ministry. The proposal for “Watershed Development Program” was made under the DPAP program for Parner taluka in 2001 for Ahmednagar district. The actual work started in July 2002 in ten watersheds in the five villages of Vankute, Dhoki, Dhotre, Dhavalpuri and Gajdipoor. In each of these five villages council and groups were founded.
Based on PRA evaluation, planning of the project was done as a part of these projects. It was decided to lay 70% work on soil conservation and 30% on water conservation.
Members were trained to form Self Help Groups (SHG) to propagate the concept of Watershed Development Program.
14 talukas make for less than 10% of the total productivity. Parner taluka shares 4% of this portion. In the year 2002 the organization started the implementation of Watershed Development Program. The total area of 5000 hectors has been taken for the development program under the project. Parner has an average rainfall of 575 cm and average temperature of 39 degree Celsius during summers. Under the Drought Prone Area development Program (DPAP) of the Central and State government, watershed development is promoted in major way. Under this watershed development program, the organization has taken up an area of 1092 hectors for making CCT’S.
As a result, all the villages are getting enough water supplies in the summers also. The women no longer have to wander around for water as the local terrains have shown consistent rise in water table. This water is not only used for households but also been significantly used for agriculture thereby, converting the un-irrigated land to an irrigated land. It has helped to control soil erosion. Level of water conservation is also increased. The initiative level of the people of the area has increased and this is reflected in their enthusiastic participation in activities of GOGVIP.

| Self Help Group (SHG) |
Under the efficient guidance of Mr. Gulabrao Kale, GOGVIP has established 35 Self Help Groups. Each group has female as well as male members also. GOGVIP has given revolving fund of Rs. 10000 to every group to start their own business. Some banks also have given finance to few SHG, through constant mediation and efforts of consoling the either parties. All the members of every SHG meet once in the month. Every group is headed by a President and a Secretary which are chosen by the members of SHG themselves. GOGVIP provides them assistance for the smooth functioning of SHG. All the SHG have been working successfully. Entire activity is funded by Rural Development Ministry of Govt. of India and the State government. |

Employment Generation |
GOGVIP has generated employment through Watershed Development Program. As a result, to this the NGO has succeeded in controlling migration of villager to urban areas to the some extent. The youth no longer think of going to urban areas for seeking employment, but stay back and participate in the activities of GOGVIP. This is the first successful step taken by GOGVIP, which GOGVIP is certain to promote in the longer run and stop the youth from looking to the cities for help in employment. In due course of time there shall be initiative from GOGVIP to help people start and sustain small scale industries thereby making every village an independent and self sufficient unit. This shall on a larger scale effect the national economy by increasing the already major share of agriculturists in national income generation.

| Study Tours |
GOGVIP plans visits and study tours for the farmers to help them have exposure to options to create better livelihood for themselves. Recently, farmers visited “Krishi Vidyan Kendra run by Sharada Pratishthan”, founded by Late. Shri. Appasaheb Pawar in Baramati, District Pune Here they were provided with the information of poultry farming, sericulture, dairy farming, sheep and cattle farming.
They also visited Nidhal Village which was the winner in the “Sant Gadgebaba Gram Swachata Abhiyan” under the guidance of Mr. Chandrakant Dalvi (Dy. Secretary of Ministry of Home, Govt. of Maharashtra). GOGVIP motivates the farmers to participate for this kind of study tours. They were educated through methods of public participation and initiative on matters of health education, role of women in rural development and tree plantation. Now villagers have been using this knowledge for the benefit of there villages. |
